Tara Estate Pet Boarding

We used the Tara Estate pet boarding service for our dog for a week in March and had a terrible experience. The first red flag was us not being allowed to see the kennel/area our dog would be kept, they insisted on taking our dog in themselves. I had asked if it was okay to leave a bag of comfort items for our dog to have in his kennel (blanket, a toy, his own bowl), and they said that would be absolutely fine and took the bag with him. When we picked our dog up it was very clear none of this stuff was ever given to our dog, which is not a big deal but I just don’t understand why they said it was fine if they had no intention of giving it to our dog. More disturbingly, when we picked our dog up and they walked him out he was bleeding from his paws. The staff were acting as if they didn’t notice but it was very obvious, he left a trail of blood over the footpath. When we pointed it out they said oh he must have scratched a paw on the walk out because he was definitely fine when we just got him from his kennel. This was absolute bullsh*t because he was bleeding from 3 paws. He was very skittish and would only let me and my husband check his paws, he didn’t want the staff anywhere near him. After having a look the bleeding was coming from his nails being so filed down, most likely from scratching at concrete. The vet nurse said there were no reports of him pacing or scratching but she wouldn’t know because she hadn’t been down to the kennels. Which is very interesting since a daily health check is said to be included in the price of the boarding service. The vet nurse said she would go and get something to help stop the bleeding and after waiting 5-10 minutes she came back and said they actually didn’t have anything that could help. Our dog also smelt strongly of urine and had visibly lost weight. It took several weeks for our dog’s anxiety to calm down after his stay at Tara estate. I’m absolutely disgusted by the way our dog was treated here and would recommend everyone stay clear of this place.

Dogs boarded 2 dogs. A jack Russell X & a Pomeranian X for 2 nights in luxury kennels. 1 of our pups is terrified of storms, so we provided medication and asked it be administered. Canberra had a storm come through that night, but when we collected the dogs, none of the medication had been given. We also provided food For the dogs as they are fussy eaters. When we got them home and fed them, they literally inhaled their meals, so I can only assume they weren't given the food we provided, so they didn't eat . Not that they would starve in two days, but very frustrating none the less. We weren't allowed to see the accomadation, with was also frustrating considering it was the first stay, and the cost was $680 for the 2 nights. I think we will look at other options next time we need a kennel.

Baxter loves going to Tara Estate for weekly doggy daycare & for sleep 💤 overs when his hoomans are away. As soon as we get close and he knows where we’re going his excitement levels are crazy. The staff are all friendly and Baxter is happy to leave us and go off with them. I would recommend Tara Estate to anyone wanting to socialise their dogs 🐕 or leave them in a safe environment while away.

We have our dog in twice a week. I am able to email the day prior to get her booked in. The team are extremely professional and take amazing care of all dogs. Our Vizla comes home knackered and sleeps for the next day. We have also boarded our dog with Tara Estate. Great service and easy check in. The daily Instagram photo updates are always great.

Couldn’t send a photo of our dog or let us know how he is or any details when he’s staying there for four nights. UPDATE: eventually provided us with an update but later on sent an email to us asking us not to post reviews online and didn’t send photo updates each day as requested as part of the service. Tried to call multiple times within the office hours and were unreachable. Disappointing when you’re trusting someone with your pet and the only way to get a proper response is by leaving reviews.

Tara Estate was excellent. We boarded our two pups for a week and look forward to doing it again. I am always very conscious of where I board my puppies, as they can be a little high maintenance at times need lots of mental and physical exercise being Aussie Shepherds. BUT at Tara Estate they were given up to 3 hours of play per day and were looked after so well, during their stay that when I picked them up they were still so happy and tired for 24 hours post their stay.
